Lara Cowley Physiotherapist

Lara Cowley: MSc, BSc(Psych), AACP (HCPC, CSP registered)

Lara is an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist and acupuncturist with over 20 years of experience across a diverse range of settings. Her career spans from working with professional athletes, higher education at Brighton University, cancer care, the NHS, and specialist chronic pain services. She holds Master’s level qualifications in Physiotherapy and Psychology(BSc), which have strengthened her expertise, particularly in complex and persistent conditions. Her clinical interests include chronic pain, injury rehabilitation, cancer care, perimenopause and menopause management, and the treatment of patients with multiple coexisting conditions.


Lara currently serves as the palliative specialist for St Wilfrid’s Hospice and is undertaking further training with the British Menopause Society to become an accredited practitioner. Alongside her clinical work, she brings over two decades of experience teaching strength and conditioning, enhancing her ability to deliver highly specialised rehabilitation programmes.

Her scope of experience encompasses a wide range of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, as well as oncology rehabilitation and the long-term management of chronic illnesses such as COPD and neurological conditions including Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Supporting those living with complex pain has been a particular passion for her.


Lara is committed to education and research, having presented at a national level and regularly delivers community-based talks on relevant health topics to support the local community . As a working mother of two, she understands the realities of balancing professional, personal, and health demands. She is dedicated to providing a personalised, realistic, and compassionate approach to care, supporting patients in their recovery where possible and empowering them to effectively manage long-term conditions.
